Welcome to On•the•Move Musings: a weekly-update-series where I reflect on my time exploring the globe; a place to record all the little details from travel that, despite being so special, my pigeon brain could likely forget; a space to show gratitude for where life’s daydreams have taken me; a few moments to stop and write during the chaos of long term travel. I’ll be posting every Friday to share some good vibes and wanderlust before we head into the weekend!
Musings
Hello from Highland, Indiana! I’m off early Sunday morning for the next leg of this journey to a region that I fell in love with back in 2014. This week has been spent planning a route and things to do in two new countries!
Budget
I now have my trip costs calculated for India and the U.K. and was asked to share a bit more about budgeting on the blog. I did India for just $51/day, and with the U.K./Europe being a lot more expensive, that trip came out to $103/day. If you’re ok with staying in hostels (which are really fun and can be really nice), using public transportation, and buying some meals from the local grocery store instead of eating in restaurants every day, you can travel very far from home very affordably.
My monthly costs while traveling are wayyyyy cheaper than my monthly costs were while working. For instance, think about how expensive it is to own a car. You have your car payment, insurance payment, and cost of gas which can total about $500-600 per month (not to mention oil changes or fees if something breaks). You need a car to get to work, and then you have to work to afford the car you need so you can get to work. If only the US would improve public transportation options but that’s a rant for another day! haha.
Currently Watching
Apple TV launched not too long ago, and after signing up for a free trial, I binged The Morning Show. It has an all-star cast including Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carrell. It’s a very relevant drama about the #metoo movement and sexual misconduct in the workplace that captured how gray navigating all these issues can feel. It was binge-worthy and very intense and I highly recommend! Conversation starter for sure!

I also had requests to share more photos, and since I literally took none this week I figured I would share some of my faves from my travels so far!
